Japanese biotechnologist and Nobel Laureate in Medicine in 2012, recognized for his groundbreaking discovery of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS). His research has transformed the field of biomedicine, paving the way for new possibilities in regenerative medicine and the treatment of degenerative diseases. Yamanaka developed a method to “reprogram” adult cells into pluripotent stem cells, an innovation that changed the way we understand cellular plasticity and regeneration. Currently a professor at Kyoto University, he continues to lead research into therapeutic applications of iPS cells.
