Bio​

He currently leads several clinical trials of cell therapies to prevent, halt progression, and reverse diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and other conditions associated with accelerated aging, with the goal of prolonging healthy life (Healthspan). He is Professor of Surgery, Director of the Cell Transplant Center and Director Emeritus of the Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Miami. He has received more than 100 honors and awards, has been named a Cavaliere by the President of the Italian Republic, and has been inducted into the National Academy of Inventors of the United States for his outstanding inventions that have had a tangible impact on the quality of life, economic development, and welfare of society. He has also served on the Consiglio Superiore di Sanità in Italy and contributed more than 1,200 publications, including the bestselling “The Code of Healthy Longevity” and “Therapeutic Revolution.”
